Repair work across the District’s roading network is progressing well. Council is currently working through the repair programme. Council has several crews out working across the District; unfortunately they just can’t get all the repairs done at once. Road repair work will take approximately two months to complete, with drainage repairs taking longer.

The repairs have been prioritised, some routine maintenance and renewal works, e.g. unsealed road metalling, has been deferred until conditions permit, although some routine works will be incorporated with the flood repairs.

Two roads remain closed of the over 50 that were closed during the flooding. Drivers are reminded that there are detours in place.

The Kakanui Valley Road remains closed at the Kakanui Valley Bridge, where repairs are expected to take approximately 4 weeks. Planning work for the Ngapara - Georgetown Road has been completed and work will begin shortly.
