A small, independent wine maker has taken out one of New Zealand’s biggest awards at the Liquorland International Wine Competition.

The Jules Taylor Rosé 2009 took out the Champion Rosé trophy with its vibrant raspberry and tamarillo hues.

Wine maker Jules Taylor identified a parcel of Merlot grown in the Gisborne region a few years back and always felt there was great potential for the fruit if the opportunity arose.

With Rosé becoming a growing category in New Zealand, Jules says the 2009 vintage was the moment to put these plans into action. She is thrilled with the wine and the resulting honour of producing a Champion Rosé.

“It is fantastic for the Jules Taylor Rosé 2009 to receive this award and a great achievement for a New Zealand rosé to be recognised at an international competition,” says Jules.

“Rosé is an increasingly popular wine variety both here and overseas and the Jules Taylor Rosé 2009 is a great introduction to the category. It has delicious, refined flavours of raspberries, strawberries and cream which make it immediately approachable for all levels of wine drinker.”

The Jules Taylor Rosé 2009 has previously been awarded a gold medal at the NZIWS 2009, a silver medal at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2009 and was awarded four stars by Cuisine magazine earlier this year.

The Jules Taylor Rosé 2009 is available from Glengarry, Liquorland and other fine wine retailers.
