You could say Tui is continuously thinking about the betterment of Kiwi life. There isn’t much Tui wouldn’t do for New Zealander’s...First the brand keeps delivering a laugh and a smile to the nation with the Yeah Right campaign; then the gorgeous Tui brewery girls were enlisted to brew the beer irresistible to NZ men; and now Tui is sticking its neck on the line – literally – so its drinkers can get their beloved Tui closer to their lips.

From mid August Tui is moving to a long neck bottle and considering at any given time Tui is in the hearts, or the hands, of loyal consumers throughout the nation, the change of packaging is not something that was undertaken lightly: Tui has a legion of fans and it doesn’t want to disappoint any one of them.

Developer of Tui colonies (or marketing manager if you prefer), Jarrod Beer, comments, “If we never updated the way we package Tui, we’d still be delivering this great drop in hogs heads, as we did way back in the early 1900’s. Tui’s moving with the times and its new clothes are all about making New Zealand’s most popular beer an acceptable choice at any drinking occasion.”

Bear continues, “Nothing’s changed on the inside – the beer itself is as perfect as it’s always been, in fact it was awarded NZ’s best draught beer at the Brew NZ awards in 2009 – it’s just that it is kitted up in a new kit. We think it looks pretty sharp and through research are confident our drinkers will agree.”

As well as the new bottle, the bottle label and box have been sharpened up too. They now feature reference to the history of Tui beginning because, at the end of the day, Tui exists because of the genius of one man and we thought it was high time to sing his praises...

His name is Henry Wagstaff and in 1889 he stopped in what was then the middle of nowhere, which has since become a New Zealand icon (Mangatainoka) and used the water from the Mangatainoka river to make what was the best cup of tea he’d had in his life. Ever. Then, with the logic afforded to only a gifted few, Henry decided to use the water for something far more worthwhile, and that something is what greets Tui drinkers every time they take a sip of the fine amber nectar.

But don’t take our word for it (we are biased after all) – pick up new-look Tui packs next time you’re at a supermarket or liquor store and see for yourself.

Enjoy!
