Vodafone Warriors awarded SKYCITY Player of the Day

Last night fans packed into Sammy’s Place at SKYCITY Auckland to watch five of the Vodafone Warriors players step up to receive their award of SKYCITY Player of the Day for the last four rounds of the National Rugby League season.

The awards were presented to Jerome Ropati, Micheal Luck, Ben Matulino, Manu Vatuvei and Lance Hohaia by SKYCITY General Manager of Casino Operations, Ejaaz Dean. Fans of the team also took away prizes including ‘Learn to Play’ gaming sessions at SKYCITY and Observatory Restaurant packages.

· Jerome Ropati has been awarded the Vodafone Warriors SKYCITY Player of the Day from the Round 17 match against the Parramatta Eels on July 4. The Warriors won the match against the Eels 35-6.


· Micheal Luck and Ben Matulino were named the joint SKYCITY Players of the Day for the Round 18 match against the Penrith Panthers on 11 July. The Vodafone Warriors beat the Penrith Panthers 12-6 with an astonishing 200 tackles in the second half to prevent the Panthers from scoring. Topping the tackle count was Micheal Luck with 56 tackles and Ben Matulino with 25.


· Manu Vatuvei was named the SKYCITY Player of the Day for the Round 19 match against the Melbourne Storm on 17 July. The Vodafone Warriors beat the Melbourne Storm 13-6 making it five wins in a row for the Vodafone Warriors.



· Lance Hohaia was named the last SKYCITY Player of the Day for July when the Warriors took on the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Sydney on 24 July. The Warriors lead up until half time when the Rabbitohs fought back with the Warriors just missing out on the win 38-28.
