From 1996, Don Stafford and Kerry Fowler made 21 documentaries together, including the Hindsight Series, Out and About Series, and Rotorua Legends Series.

A programme made in 2008 as part of the Rotorua Legends Series is to be shown publicly for the second time at Rotorua Museum on Sunday 15 August at 2pm.

Devoted to Don Stafford, the film pays tribute to his significant contribution to the city.

"In this encore screening we hear people recall him warmly, endorsing his legacy as one of our most respected citizens," says his long-time producer Kerry Fowler.

He believes that in-depth interviews made over 14 years (extracts of which appear in the films), are an invaluable resource.

For Fowler the footage makes compelling viewing.

"I have 70 in my archive, and more than 50% of the interviewees are no longer with us. Don always said that this facet was actually the most important part of our projects and the true value would only be realised many years in the future."

The encore screening is made more poignant because Don Stafford passed away on 5 April 2010. Writer, broadcaster, speaker, artist, and since 1996 documentary film-maker, this charismatic man never tired of sharing his rich lode of stories with generations of Rotorua people.
