Kopu to Thames Structure Plan approved

Conservative plan allows for growth without shutting out additional applications.

Final approval has been given to the Kopu to Thames Structure Plan after a lengthy discussion by the Thames-Coromandel District Council at the Council's full meeting last week.

Council noted that the Plan provides a further 50 hectares of industrial zoning, including land on the eastern side of State Highways 25 and 26, with the type of industrial activity to be identified through the District Plan review.

An additional 135 hectares is also provided for residential growth, making room for over a thousand new dwellings.

The Plan will be implemented as part of the District Plan review and infrastructure requirements will be considered as part of the Ten Year Plan process.
