New Wanaka flight schedule to benefit from Air New Zealand discount

With the new Air New Zealand schedule into Lake Wanaka due to start at the end of the month, doubling the air capacity to the popular resort town, locals and frequent visitors will be able to benefit from Air New Zealand’s frequent regional flyer discount card.

The Starfish card gives between 15% and 30% discount off flights to and from regional airports that includes Wanaka but not neighbouring Queenstown.

“Air New Zealand’s discount card, together with the new, hugely improved service provides even more incentive for travellers to fly directly to and from Wanaka,” said Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager, James Helmore.

“Traditionally, local business travellers have headed over the hill to Queenstown to fly to a main centre in a day. Now they can do this direct from Wanaka without the one hour drive and with the added bonus of saving up to 30% on their flights.”

Helmore continued that the new service and discount card would also benefit regular holiday visitors to Wanaka, making a short weekend break logistically and financially even more appealing.

“The new schedule has great national and international connections from Christchurch and we hope the service is well used so we can retain the increased number of flights,” he said.

The new Air New Zealand schedule starts on Monday, 30 August 2010 with twice daily flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and once-daily flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. One-way fares start from $90.
