First water report in 10 years available now

Environment Southland and Te Ao Marama Inc have launched ‘Our Health’, the first of four reports which make up Southland Water 2010: Report on the State of Southland’s Freshwater Environment.

Southland Water 2010 builds and expands on Environment Southland’s first State of the Environment (SOE) Report for Water published in October 2000.

The first part, launched this week, looks at the various monitoring programmes carried out by Environment Southland and the cultural monitoring of Te Ao Marama and looks at the aspects of freshwater quality that Southlanders value for their health: that it is safe to swim and play, safe for human and animal drinking water supplies and for gathering and consuming kai/food.
