Nearly 1000 submissions (989) were received by the closing date for a proposed development at New Chums (Wainuiototo) Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula.

The application, by Coastal Land Trust Holdings Ltd, is seeking permission to create 20 residential lots ranging in size from 1,520m2 to 23,043m2 with identified building sites with associated accessways and a further covenant-protected lot of 306 ha.

The applicants are also seeking approval to create an esplanade reserve along New Chums Beach and to protect an historic Pa site.
