New Zealand is a land of famously bright, clear, crisp light that saturates our landscape and makes us shine. This same light has given birth to a beautiful new range of sparkling wines, created from the best of New Zealand for those who outshine the ordinary – Te Hana.
In Maori, it means ‘to shine’. Liz Hislop, Lion Nathan brand manager for Te Hana, says, “We realised there was a gap in the market for an affordable sparkling wine that is beautiful, aspirational and distinctly New Zealand – a contemporary sparkling range that radiates natural style. Enter Te Hana.
“This is an important launch for Lion Nathan, and we’ve spent a long time getting every element just right. For instance, we went through more than 750 names before we found Te Hana and tasted many blends of New Zealand wine before deciding on our three variants.”
Every glass of Te Hana is made from New Zealand grapes that ripen and intensify in our famous Kiwi sunlight. Each variant accentuates its own unique, vibrant flavours while delicate effervescent bubbles deliver a delicious creamy “mousse” texture that is distinctly Te Hana.
Te Hana Sparkling Reserve Cuvée is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir grapes, with refreshing hints of crisp apple, grapefruit and citrus notes with a touch of brioche and shortcake flavours creating an aromatic aperitif‐style sparkling wine.
Te Hana Sparkling Rosé is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes – light and refreshing, its subtle strawberry and cherry aromas offer a creamy rich finish. Te Hana Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It delivers lively tropical fruit aromas joined by refreshing Sauvignon Blanc flavours.
Liz says, “We’re extremely excited to launch Te Hana into the New Zealand market and have high hopes that – like the people it was designed for – Te Hana will outshine the ordinary.”
Te Hana’s launch will also be supported by a high‐profile partnership with the Auckland Racing Club and an extensive social media campaign.
The 750ml Te Hana Sparkling range is now available in supermarkets and liquor stores at a recommended retail price of $17.99, and in selected on‐premise accounts nationwide. The Te Hana Sparkling Reserve Cuvée is also available in 200ml bottles for on‐premise and fine wine retailers.
