Stone Chips Got You Down??

 

Stone chips, dust covered cars, and slow journeys. We’ve all suffered the effects of the poor quality of New Zealand roads. We’ve all been stuck in a line of traffic while waiting to get through traffic and we’ve all heard that awful crack when a stone hits your bonnet. Is the recent increase in the popularity of stone protection on cars a result of this? Having been in the industry of Stone Protection for 15 years, as a company we have seen several different trends, and at Hamilton Stripes and Signs we have watched things change over time. It is a commonly known in New Zealand that you can’t drive far without coming across a set of road works, or finding yourself entrenched in loose gravel, and that is something many of us have learnt to live with. Perhaps it is the recession that has caused people to want to spend money on their cars? Strange statement, I know, but now days people are more than willing to fork out $86 for a Stone Guard on their bonnets and bumpers. People are aware that often this one of payment can solve a whole lot of headaches down the track! Although, I guess too many people $86 is a lot of money during hard times.



So why are we so eager to spend our money on something as simple as Stone Protection? I’m not a panel beater of any sort, and I certainly can’t preach on the price of repairing stone chips, but I can’t imagine it to be cheap. I know that they’re not simple to fix and can often take several layers before being completely gone. How many of you have gone on a trip somewhere, and gotten a stone chip? Probably most of you, and it tends to happen at the worst possible time, or when you have just brought your brand new car! Stone chips are never fun, and personally I find them rather irritating! So do something about it.
