One of New Zealand’s top real estate sales consultants has defied the country’s sluggish residential property market – selling $16 million worth of homes in the space of a week.

Marnie Adams from Bayleys in Auckland clocked up the multi-million dollar deals in the biggest seven days of her seven years selling high-end homes – in a month traditionally lean for residential sales.

Over the space of a few hours, adrenalin-fuelled Adams secured purchase agreements on:

  • A stately $10 million mansion in Auckland’s upmarket Mission Bay. The home – Arborfield – features four bedrooms, a billiard room, gas heated infinity pool, spa and tennis court.

  • A waterfront Panmure home for $3.55 million - believed to be the highest price paid for a home in the suburb. The residence features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a guest cottage, two acres of waterfront and deep water mooring for six boats.

And

  • A large section in Remuera with a run down-bungalow selling for over $2 million – with the new owner intending to demolish the current dwelling and replace it with an impressive new modern-styled home.

“While it looks impressive that these three sales all came together simultaneously over a relatively short period of time, years of work went in behind the scenes,” admitted Adams.

“It was essential to get all parties into a negotiating frame of mind – by keeping them totally informed and updated on market conditions. These’s no denying that the market is ‘doing it hard’ at the moment in terms of volume, but we still talked to the vendors and purchasers about the state of the residential home sales we were tracking”.

Ms Adams said that while New Zealand’s economy was still in a fragile recovery phase, her trifecta of nearly $16 million in high-end home sales showed that there was still an appetite for securing prestigious dwellings as family homes.
