Very low-slung, very sporty and very rare – welcome to the new, limited-edition 911 Speedster.
The new 911 Speedster is a celebration of the first Porsche model to bear the name – the 356 Speedster – as well as showcasing the individualisation programme known as Porsche Exclusive.
This special open-top 911 will be available in only one specification, limited to a production run of just 356 units and be shown for the first time at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show.
The low-slung two-seater stands out with its lower (by 60 mm) and more steeply raked wind- screen, characteristic double-bubble hardcover for the soft top, 44 mm wider rear body and exclusive “Pure Blue” body colour.
The 300 kW of power from the boxer 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine is delivered to the rear wheels via Porsche’s PDK (double clutch) gearbox. A limited-slip differential, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) further individualise this model.
And thanks to ‘Porsche Intelligent Performance’ fuel consumption in the NEDC mode is the same as that of the Carrera S with PDK, at 10.3 L/100 kms – despite the 911 Speedster tuned to deliver an extra 17 kW of power over the S model.
The 911 Speedster marks the 25th anniversary of Porsche Exclusive which will be celebrated in 2011, and once again, demonstrates the small-series competence of Porsche Exclusive after the big success of the 911 Sport Classic.
Living up to the Porsche Exclusive standard, the 911 Speedster features almost all optional
equipment of the 911 series and its appeal also comes from its meticulously hand-finished
interior in black smooth-finish leather with numerous exterior colour details. These include
decorative designs with checkerboard patterns in the seat centre section of the adaptive
sports seats (reminiscent of a chequered flag) and the leather side bolsters in exterior colour.
“Pure Blue” has been developed exclusively for the Speedster’s exterior, providing an intriguing contrast with the tinted front lights, black headlight rings, black windscreen surround and other black decorative designs. The Speedster is available in Carrara White upon request at no extra cost.
The 911 Speedster will arrive in New Zealand early in 2011. Local pricing has yet to be finalised for this the most stunning open-top 911 ever built.
