RHYTHM & VINES COMPLETES 2010 INTERNATIONAL LINE-UP WITH CHASE AND STATUS AND MORE

More good news for Rhythm & Vines fans with Chase & Status (DJ set), Netsky, Carl Cox and Erol Alkan added to this year’s line-up, along with local heavyweights Bulletproof, Mt Eden Dubstep and Dick Johnson.

Blurring the line between drum and bass, dubstep, hip hop and breakbeat, UK duo Chase and Status have moved from underground success to producing for one of pop’s biggest stars Rihanna. Their new single ‘Heavy’ also features UK rapper Dizzy Rascal.

With a rise to fame so quick it would make a reality TV star blush, Netsky has gone from Belgian bedroom beat-maker to superstar DJ and Facebook heartthrob in a matter of months and will play at R&V fresh off the back of his first album already lauded by Kiwi radio stations.
Living UK dance legend Carl Cox needs no introduction and is back to rip it up after a massive New Year’s Eve performance at R&V two years ago.

While UK electro DJ Erol Alkan has his foot firmly in the indie scene having produced for the likes of Mystery Jets and the Klaxons, and remixed the Scissor Sisters, Justice and Franz Ferdinand and more.
These additions join previously announced artists; N*E*R*D, Justice (DJ set), Shihad, Chromeo, Boys Noize, Mystery Jets, High Contrast, Tinie Temper, Miami Horror, Hollie Smith, BARB, P Money, Electric Wire Hustle, Optimus Gryme and Our:House Presents.

With tickets sales already strong for the three-day Gisborne festival, organisers say this rounds out the international line-up and a “killer three days and nights of R&V goodness”, with only some additional local acts still to come.

“This is it R&V fans” says R&V Founder Hamish Pinkham. “A lot of ticket and accommodation options are near capacity now, so we urge you to sort yours now to avoid disappointment.”
Responding to overwhelming interest from Chase and Status fans, organisers say a dedicated Facebook group of more than 2,300 members convinced them to book London duo.
“We knew there was interest in Chase and Status from discussions on our own Facebook site” says Hamish Pinkham. “This petition has taken it to a whole new level though. With more than 2,300 members, we can see there’s a lot of people out there who really want to see them. And we like to keep our fans happy, so we listened.”

Creators of the Facebook campaign, Harry Whyte from Havelock North and Nick Lyne from Auckland describe Chase and Status as ‘the’ drum and bass act of their generation and called on other fans to help show organisers how “truly grateful” and “stoked” they’d be to see them perform at the festival.
Both 18 and studying at Otago University, Harry and Nick say they attended the last R&V and have already purchased their tickets for the upcoming festival. R&V is equally stoked with their passion and will be rewarding them with VIP treatment including an opportunity to meet their heroes backstage.

Various ticket and accommodation options are available including BW Campgrounds. A festival within a festival, BW Campgrounds has an incredible line-up performing onsite including UK dance act The Freestylers. Local supremos Kora, The Black Seeds, Sola Rosa, The Checks, P-Money, State of Mind (Live), High Contrast, The Upbeats and Mt Eden Dub Step are also performing, with even more acts still to be announced.

However with over 9,500 tickets already sold, BW is expected to sell out again - as is R&V Onsite Camping which has only 200 tickets left, and the popular VIP area which is also nearing capacity.

With 30-odd entries so far for R&V Protege, you have until next Thursday 30 September to submit your entry. From there, the Top 6 will be selected and flown to Auckland for interviews and will attend the NZ Music Awards with Team R&V as well as undertake a series of interviews and challenges.

New this year, R&V is doing its bit for the environment and on the path to becoming carbon neutral. Ticket purchasers can offset their carbon emission by paying an extra $4.50 that will go towards planting a tree at a new R&V Forest.

For those after something a bit special, the VIP Lounge Experience is back after last year’s resounding success. With limited tickets available, lucky VIP ticket holders get to rub shoulders with artists, media and other VIPs in a separate area overlooking the main stage with its own luxury toilets, bar and food stands.

Accommodation

R&V Onsite Camping is situated within the vines at Waiohika Estate. R&V Onsite Camping is R20 and offers a premium camping experience for about 2,000 campers right next to the Festival action, providing up to five days camping, opening up on December 28 2010 and closing on the January 2 2011.

BW Campgrounds passes are $140. Near Waikanae Beach in Gisborne, the R18 BW Campgrounds is a festival in its own right, with 10,000 guests and activities like wakeboarding and bikini competitions, along with its own stellar line-up of international and local artists.
