Council Hands Over Funds To Heritage Celebrations

On Tuesday Council Chief Executive Michael Ross presented the Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations with a cheque for $5000. The funds are to go towards this year’s event.

The funds come from Telecom’s goodwill grants paid to local Councils following issues earlier this year with the XT network.

Council has an ongoing relationship with the Heritage Celebrations; last year the celebrations received a Community Group Grant of $22,500 towards the weeklong event.

Chief Executive Michael Ross said “the growing Heritage Celebrations are a real boost for tourism in Oamaru. It is an opportunity for us to celebrate and share a unique and special part of our community.”

This year’s Victorian Heritage Celebrations will run from Wednesday 17 November through to the Fete Day on Sunday 21 November.
