KAIAPOI

Due to strong demand, Kaiapoi’s one-stop shop for earthquake recovery information – the Recovery

Assistance Centre (RAC) in Sewell Street - will be open late night Thursdays, starting from tonight.
That means the people of Kaiapoi, Pines Beach and Kairaki can drop by any time today, through until 7.30pm. By staying open later on Thursday, it means that those working during the day can now visit the centre at a time that is convenient to them. Families are welcome.

This is a friendly and welcoming place to get advice on a whole host of postquake
questions, such as:

• What extra financial support is available if I’ve been affected by the earthquake?
• Who can I ask about my accommodation needs?
• What can I do if my family isn’t coping very well?
• What support is available to me if I’ve lost my job?
• What should I do if I think the sewer on my property is damaged?

The Waimakariri District Council has a strong presence at the site, including the Building Team who can help answer your questions, such as whether or not repair work requires a building consent.

The RAC opened at 24 Sewell Street on September 20 and its dedicated team is passionate about helping the community get back on its feet.

“Please don’t be afraid to come and see us,” says RAC manager Sandra James.

“There will be a cup of tea and a warm welcome for you. If there’s anything that’s bothering you, or you’re feeling frustrated, then don’t hesitate – come on down!”
