Local and international visitors alike will benefit from a deal struck up between Auckland’s two most popular attractions; Auckland Zoo and Auckland’s Sky Tower. From 11 Oct – 5 Dec 2010, when a full priced admission is purchased at either the Sky Tower or Auckland Zoo, customers will receive a 2-for-1 offer to use at the other location.

The offer makes it easier for more visitors to get more fun out of what Auckland has to offer and helps international visitors know what’s on around the city. Auckland Zoo already attracts more than 650,000 visitors a year, predominantly from the greater Auckland area. Sky Tower, still a favourite with the locals attracts it’s more than half a million visitors per year from international markets.

And in recent months the Sky Tower added an extra feature to its already impressive Sky Deck - the Sky Tower’s highest observation level. View finders called SkyScopes, boost the customer experience with 18 of the viewing devices positioned around the deck, fixated on key Auckland landmarks. Each SkyScope has accompanying information on the landmark the viewfinder is focused on. The narrative on each landmark with each SkyScope means guests leave the Sky Tower will a renewed or new found knowledge of the Auckland cityscape.

There’s a lot that’s new at Auckland Zoo too, including a recent zebra birth, the upcoming arrival of a new red panda, a congregation of young alligators now active at the Zoo’s new exhibit, The Tropics, and a great daily summer schedule of animal encounters.

Auckland Zoo works hard to make sure that the future remains bright for animal species in the wild, and is holding a special event during Orangutan Caring Week in November. On Saturday, 6 November, come along to the Zoo's market day where you can purchase palm oil-free products, celebrate Madju the orangutan's fifth birthday, and find out more about these magnificent great apes.
