Beatrice fifth in discus

Former double Commonwealth Games champion Beatrice Faumuina was below her best in the discus and finished in fifth place in Delhi today.


Her best throw of 57.79m was more than three metres below her season’s best.


Faumuina’s sequence of throws was 56.15m, no throw, 55.31m, 57.79m, no throw, 54.83m.


The 1997 world champion, Faumuina is at her fifth Commonwealth Games.


The discus resulted in a clean sweep for India, much to the delight of a biggish crowd. Krishna Poonia won with 61.51m from Harwant Kaur and Seema Antil.
