Council Nominations Bode Well

The nominations are in and the voting packs are compiled.

They will be delivered to voters by New Zealand Post over five days between 21 and 26 September with voting closing at noon on 13 October.

This year showed a slight upward trend with 140 nominations received compared with 135 for the 2004 election.

This year, the lodging of nominations was spread more evenly over the four-week period than in 2004, with only 15% coming in on the last day.

It’s hoped this is a sign of a trouble-free election and that the technical problems and delays of 2004 are behind us.
