VTNZ launches new Roadside Assistance

VTNZ has just made it easier for more New Zealanders to avoid the inconvenience, hassle and danger of breaking down with the launch of its new roadside assistance service.
For as little as $20 for six months’ cover, VTNZ will have a mechanic by your side – usually within 40 minutes – no matter where you are in the country, or will arrange to get your car to a nearby mechanic.
“We know Kiwis don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road when things go wrong as research tells us six out of 10 households have some sort of roadside assistance,” says VTNZ Chief Executive Mike Walsh.
“Our new service provides motorists with a number of attractive options – an Annual Policy for just $49 a year, or $20 for six months when you get a VTNZ Warrant of Fitness – through to a $79-a-year premium scheme. And the service covers the vehicle, so it doesn’t matter who’s driving,” says Mr Walsh.
VTNZ Roadside Assistance provides a call-out service 24 hours a day; seven days a week, for requirements such as a battery jump start, fitting the spare wheel and locked-in key recovery, emergency fuel and minor emergency repairs.
Additional services are also offered such as technical assistance over the phone, and a full accident management service – helping drivers through the stress of being involved in an accident.
VTNZ Roadside Assistance covers cars, motorcycles, motorhomes, caravans and trailers, and offers a range of services for different motoring needs and budgets.
- $20 Roadside Assistance for 6 months and 1 call-out (purchased with a VTNZ WoF)
- $49 Annual Roadside Assistance for 12 months with 3 call-outs
- $79 Premium Roadside Assistance for 12 months with 3 call-outs plus additional benefits when 100km away from home.
“The premium option is ideal for people who travel a lot as it comes with extra benefits that help take care of all the logistical difficulties when you’re out of town, such as car hire, temporary accommodation and getting the car to a local repairer if the vehicle breaks down and is irreparable on the side of the road,” says Mr Walsh.
A 10% multi-vehicle discount off each vehicle and a 5% renewal discount are also available under the 12 months’ cover.
“Drivers don’t have to buy any other VTNZ service when taking up one of our 12 month options either, making it a truly independent cover,” says Mr Walsh.
VTNZ Roadside Assistance is provided by New Zealand Roadside Assistance Limited, which has an extensive network of more than 1200 recovery vehicles across New Zealand.
