Public Meetings for water measurement regulations
Water consent holders and other interested parties are invited to a public meeting on Thursday November 4 at either Amberley or Cheviot to hear about the introduction of new national regulations on the measurement and reporting of water takes.
The new National Regulations are being introduced by the Government and will come into force on November 10, 2010.
They affect all existing and future water-take consent holders with takes of five litres per second or more. Existing consent holders have between two and six years to comply depending on the size of their take. People granted consents from November 10 onwards will need to comply straight away.
The meetings are the final two in a series being held in October and November throughout Canterbury. They will include information from representatives from the Ministry for the Environment, Irrigation NZ, and Environment Canterbury.
