International Carnival set to 'Bring Auckland Together'

AUCKLAND

New Zealand’s first carnival is here! Saturday 6th November and Sunday 7th November will see Ellerslie Racecourse buzzing with fun, food, costumes, music and arts.
 
In the spirit of carnivals from around the world, the inaugural Auckland International Carnival is an event that focuses on bringing Auckland together. The Carnival aims to give Auckland’s communities an exciting, fun event to share creativity, culture, food, arts and the values that make Auckland a great place to live.
 
Run as a two-day event, The Auckland International Carnival will feature over 600 people parading in an array of international and carnival costumes, local and  international cultural performances on stage, vibrant food and craft stalls, an Asian Village, Maori History Waka group.
 
Organisers say that the event is for everyone; Families, Community Groups, Music Lovers, Schools, Youth Groups, Food Lovers, Fashions & Art enthusiast and Dance Party participants.
 
“In the spirit of carnivals from around the world, the inaugural Auckland International Carnival will bring Aucklander’s together. People of all backgrounds, cultures and ages will join as one to celebrate what makes us unique as a city,” says Event Organiser Patrick Iwobi
 
“It is an opportunity for communities to come together as one, show-case their culture, colour and creativity whilst revealing themselves to different cultures and learning from each other.”
 
The event will finish on Sunday night with a closing fireworks display. Come along and enjoy the Auckland International Carnival!
