This weekend sees not only a return to the title challenge of the ENZED V8 Racing Ute Series for Caine Lobb but also a return to Motorsport New Zealand's Premier Race Championship for the 21 year old driver from Whangarei.

Leaving the 'main game' in 2008 to join with Mark Cromie Holden Racing Team in the V8 Utes and becoming champion in the 2008-9 season, Lobb has not been in the country's Tier One category since competing in the Formula Ford National Championship in 2007-8.

The then break-away ENZED V8 Racing Ute Series chose to go it alone at first running it's own show and was not included in Motorsport NZ's Tier One category even though it would have made an ideal partner with the headlining BNT V8s Championship. The ute racing series is very popular in Australia and the local version has seen similar success here over it's three seasons thus far.

This weekend however sees the renegade series unite with the premier championship for the first time and also run alongside their sister series the BNT V8s. Just like the racing utes the BNT V8s provide a fast paced battle between Holden and Ford and can also boast the inclusion of the best touring car drivers in the country and some from Australia's V8 Supercars Championship.

Of benefit to the ENZED V8 Ute Racing Series and especially Caine Lobb is the running alongside the country's largest and toughest motorsport series thereby creating more opportunity of moving into the BNT V8s. The series is a feeder into the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and therefore a logical and actual stepping stone for any New Zealand driver aiming at the category.

Lobb has had his sights on the V8 Supercars since childhood and throughout his career he has shown he has the skill and talent to go all the way.

In the Mark Cromie Holden Racing Team Commodore he has time and time again demonstrated his ability to make Australia with many race wins and the series' title under his belt which can not have gone unnoticed by the New Zealand motorsport fraternity and those overseas who continually hunt for young talent.

With a good sized field of 16 Holden and Ford racing utes expected this weekend at Pukekohe Park Raceway the series will hold it's own against the BNT V8s and can be expected to be every bit as exciting as the headline act.

For motorsport fans there could be no bigger draw card than being treated to not one but two V8 powered grudge matches over the weekend with six panel crunching races between the two series.
