PUKEKOHE

Whakatane driver Christina Orr is looking forward to the opening round of the BNT V8s 2010-11 season held at Pukekohe Park Raceway in South Auckland this weekend.

This will be her second season competing in the top billing category in Motorsport New Zealand's Premier Championship and the sole female driver in the field will again fly the red Holden flag against the blue oval.

Although driving the same Commodore as last season which saw her finish in 22nd overall and second in the Rookie Drivers Championship, the car has undergone some major adjustments leading up to this season's first round.

After a close inspection of the car between seasons some issues were uncovered and corrected which Orr believes could have an impact on her pace for this season.

"We have ironed out all the big problems before heading into this weekend and we just have to fix up one or two small ones like the power steering, but hey who needs that - right?" Orr jokes.

"We can see now why some of the set up changes we were making throughout last season were just not working for us. We weren't too far off the pace before so we are hoping that now we will have a fast car and those boys will have to watch out!" she says.

A testing day prior to the weekend was significant for the team and a decider on whether they were going to be competitive for the opening round of the season after repairs were made to the race car.

"I'm pretty happy with the car but hope that it doesn't rain too much over the weekend." she says.

Christina Orr and the team have opted to compete at only the North Island rounds of the 2010-11 season which means they will sit out the Christchurch, Timaru and Invercargill meetings over November and January.

After this weekend's opening round at Pukekohe, Orr will be back in the car for round five at Manfeild Autocourse in Feilding on February 12-13.

She will then compete round six at Taupo Motorsport Park in March and what is now a BNT V8s Championship round and final the ITM 400 Hamilton V8 Supercars meeting in April.
