A free seminar on buying and selling real estate in Canterbury ‘post-quake’ has been organised by Harcourts in an effort to give the public some clarity.

The seminar, which is being held on Monday night at the Christchurch Town Hall, will feature a range of speakers who will provide updates and information aimed at educating potential buyers and sellers about the facts of the current situation, explains Harcourts New Zealand CEO Hayden Duncan.

“There is a lot of uncertainty in the marketplace and we felt it was important to address that and as the dominant real estate group in the area we have taken the lead and organised an opportunity for the public to be given a good understanding all of the relevant information from the relevant experts,” he says.

“These are difficult times for everyone and we wanted to do something that would at least help give our clients and potential clients some clarity on the real estate-related issues.”

The free seminar, which is open to all and scheduled for 7pm to 8.30pm on Monday, will feature the following speakers:

  • Christchurch’s Deputy Mayor Ngaire Button
  • Chartered Building Surveyor James Bundy from Hampton Jones
  • Registered Valuer Mark Shalders from Darroch Ltd
  • NZI, IAG New Zealand Limited General Manager Personal Lines and Support Garry Taylor
  • Lawyer Celia Barker, a partner at Cavell Leitch Law
  • Mortgage broker Andrea Kemp from Mortgage Express
  • Harcourts New Zealand CEO Hayden Duncan.

The seminar is being sponsored by vbase, Shipleys and The Press.
