The business broking team from Christchurch-based Harcourts franchise Grenadier Real Estate was the top South Island brokerage and runner-up nationally in the Business Brokerage of the Year category of the recent 2010 Real Estate Institute of New Zealand Awards for Excellence.

Now operating under the NAI Harcourts brand created earlier this year as part of a joint venture between Harcourts and NAI Global, the team has had an excellent year according to Manager David Wells.

“In what has been a very tough market we have managed to achieve a marked lift in the volume of transactions we have completed compared to last year, improved our marketshare and significantly increased gross revenue,” he says. “In addition to these results we also believe we have firmly established ourselves as the largest and most professional team of specialist business brokers in our market.”

Mr Wells says teamwork, increased training, a positive attitude and a focus on customer service have all been keys to the success of the team.

“During the competition year, in which we recruited, trained and launched a number of new brokers, we had a strong focus on working co-operatively and also improved and increased our in-house training, including organising regular sessions with relevant external professionals.

“Recognising that attitude is everything we have also tried to remain positive and alongside that we have concentrated on providing a higher standard of professionalism and service across all aspects of our work. Together it all seems to have worked!”

Harcourts New Zealand CEO Hayden Duncan congratulated the team on their recent awards success.

“Business broking is a specialist area of expertise which Grenadier’s team excel in and with their focus on continuous improvement and through excellent initiatives such as the free educational seminars they run I am sure they will remain at the forefront in their market.”
