Katie McVean showed her class today (Sunday) winning the horse grand prix at the Woodhill Sands Show near Auckland.

She and Dunstan Daffodil headed home a 20-strong field to take the honours with a lovely double clear round, stopping the clock in 33.43.

Ahead of her, Paula Mussen (Pukekohe) and Meersbrooke Flintstone laid down a mighty challenge for the other five combinations through to the jump-off over the Bruce Wakeling designed course, with a clear in 34.97, but it just wasn't enough to hold out the New Zealand world games representative.

Rachel McGregor (Cambridge) and Kabo Benny Boy were all consistency taking out the young rider class more than three seconds ahead of Megan Lindeman-Cohen (Clevedon) on Yum Yum in the jump-off.

In the pony grand prix just two went clear of the 17 starters, with the win going to Olivia Harding (Auckland) Hawaii Haka over Elle Phillips (Waikato) Guess Once More.

Around 400 combinations competed at the two day show.
