PALMERSTON NORTH

The third day of competition for the Gillette Cup is underway in Palmerston North.

Play started at 10.30 this morning. Hamilton Boys High School won the toss and decided to bat first against King’s College from Auckland.

Reigning champions Christchurch Boys’ High also won the toss and made Hutt International Boys’ School bowl first, while Palmerston North Boys’ High School went into bat against John McGlashan.

Christchurch Boys and King’s College are currently unbeaten in the competition and are sitting on eight points, while Hamilton and Hutt International have won one game a piece and are on four points. John McGlashan and Palmerston North are yet to win a game.

The final will be played tomorrow in Palmerston North. On current standings Christchurch Boys’ will play King’s. Both teams have a positive net run rate at the moment. However if Hutt International beat the defending champions by a considerable margin in today’s game there could be a chance Hutt could grab a place in the final.
