Christchurch Boys' High face King's in Gillette Cup Final

Play is underway in the final of the Gillette Cup with defending champions Christchurch Boys’ High School taking on Kings’ College in Palmerston North.

King’s College won the toss on elected to bat.

Christchurch Boys’ High has made it through to the Gillette Cup finals tournament nine times and have taken home five titles, whilst Kings’ are also previous winners in their seven finals appearances.

In the other games Hamilton Boys’ High School won the toss and elected to bat against Palmerston North Boys’ High for third and fourth place, while in the playoff for fifth and sixth John McGlashan was put into bat by Hutt International Boys’ School.

New Zealand Cricket National Development Manager Mark Lane said the final is expected to go down to the wire. “Both teams have been unbeaten during pool play and today’s final is set to be a thrilling match,” he said. “Both sides are evenly matched. Christchurch Boys’ will be looking to defend their title while King’s will be out to knock the defending champions off their perch.”
