Now, you can also help give a Kiwi kid their first bike, by donating to Variety at www.varietynz.co.nz/
For only $200, Variety can provide a child with their very own bike and helmet. Variety is challenging all New Zealanders to donate $20 and get nine friends to do the same to bring a ray of sunshine to deserving Kiwi kids. “We all remember receiving our first bike, but for many Kiwi families this is out of reach,” says Lorraine Taylor, Variety CEO. “Through our Bikes for Kids programme, Variety gives bikes to children who are seen by their peers as role models, who have made a difference in their school or community, who have overcome adverse circumstances or whose families are simply not in a position to purchase a bike. “With the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation doubling every dollar contributed until 31 December 2010 up to a total of $US2,500, we can provide bikes for twice as many children, so your contribution goes twice as far.” Bikes for Kids, now in its eleventh year, forms a special part of Variety’s mobility programme, providing life enriching assistance to children with physical restrictions.
