Actions speak louder than words for The Boy with Tape on his Face

You won’t get funny one-liners but you will get plenty of laughs when The Boy with Tape on his Face performs at Christchurch’s World Buskers Festival next month.

The Boy with Tape on his Face is the latest creation of popular street entertainer Sam Wills, who won The Press People’s Choice Award at the World Buskers Festival in 2008.

In his exciting new show Wills, who has won over audiences as the freak you could take home to your mum, draws on the rich heritage of silent film, mime, magic, puppetry, Motown and the films of Patrick Swayze to create a character oozing with curiosity who approaches every object and every person he meets as a potential friend - or plaything.

“He doesn’t say anything but his actions speak volumes and the audience is going to love him,’’ World Buskers Festival artistic director Jodi Wright predicts.

“Sam has always been a favourite with festival crowds and his latest incarnation is particularly endearing and will have people spell-bound.”

The Press is sponsoring The Boy with Tape on his Face and he will be performing every night from Friday 21 to Saturday 29 January in the Philip Carter Family Auditorium, Christchurch Art Gallery from 7.30pm.
