Central Stags and BLACKCAPS all-rounder Jacob Oram has been fined after showing dissent towards umpires during the Men’s Domestic One-Day match between the Central Stags and Otago Volts at Fitzherbert Park, Palmerston North on Sunday 16 January.

Oram was reported by Umpires Wayne Knights and Evan Gray for breaching the Code of Conduct after he was heard using inappropriate language and openly disagreeing with the umpiring decision after being given out LBW.

Association Commissioner Mike Ryan convened a hearing and found the example was a clear breach of Appendix A, clause 1.2.1. of the Code of Conduct - Showing serious dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match.

During the hearing Oram advised that he admitted the breach of the Code of Conduct and said that it was not the example that he ordinarily set.

In the commissioners report Ryan said that while the behaviour was unacceptable he acknowledged Oram’s action was out of character. Ryan decided that it was a Level 2 offence and a fine of $400.00 was the appropriate penalty.

Note:
The code of conduct allows for a leave to appeal to be made by New Zealand Cricket or Jacob Oram.
