The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s Guide Dog Services charity is set to benefit from a fundraising auction being held at the Warkworth A & P show on January 22.

The fundraising activity has been organised by community-spirited country specialist real
estate salesperson John Barnett from property sales agency Bayleys. Going under the auction hammer will be such items such as luxury accommodation, dinners, DIY equipment, homeware, gardening supplies, food and wine.

John Barnett will be helped out on the day by his Bayleys colleagues, and by young sons James and Daniel who will be walking around the show-grounds with a collection bucket seeking any spare coins and notes.

“It costs tens of thousand of dollars to breed and raise a guide dog for the blind, so all money raised by Bayleys at the Warkworth show will go towards helping someone in need,” said John Barnett.

This is the third year John Barnett and his team from Bayleys has been raising funds for RNZFB’s Guide Dog Services at the Warkworth A & P show. Items going under the hammer have been donated by local companies and individuals from throughout the Rodney region.

“Guide Dog Services is such a worthy cause, and we have raised more than $6,000 for the charity in the last two years and look forward to increasing this again in 2011,” added John.

Companies which have donated items to the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s Guide Dog Services charity at Warkworth A & P show include: Matakana Patisserie, Nosh Food Market, River Nile Linens, Matakana Smokehouse, Warkworth Vets, McEntee Hire, Matakana Four Square, Vet Farm & Pet Clinic, Warkworth Fitness, Flight Centre, Local Matters, Matakana Cinema, The Vintry, Matakana Market Kitchen, Bridgehouse, Olive Growers Cooperative, Sheepworld, Horse Riding Warkworth, Kawau Water Taxis, Rodney Times, Brick Bay Wines & Sculpture Trail, Omaha Bay Vineyard, Warkworth Golf Club, Omaha Beach Golf Club, Beach House Living, Queen Street Café, Autohaus European, Morris & James, Salty Dog Inn, Matakana ITM, Unichem Lee & Hart Pharmacy, Bayleys Realty Group, NZ Herald, Gamegear, Taste, Takatu Swim School, Sportsworld, New World, Town & Country, Mahurangi Marine, Castle Matakana, Farm & Lifestyle Centre, Dick Smith Electronics, Repco, Red Letter Day, Franklins Pharmacy, Signmasters, Bach Surf Shop, Quince, Wharehine Group, Kodak Express, Coast & Country, Timberworld, Omaha Surf School, Plume Restaurant, Alliance Printing, Rhodes for Roads, Take Note, Signmasters
