AUCKLAND

Pete Latham from the Subway Pro Cycling Team won the 110 kilometre Tour de Ranges in a record time on Saturday.

Latham beat Roman Van Uden in a sprint finish to win in two hours 40 minutes and 57 seconds. Eliot Crowther came home third in a strong field that also included five time national road champion Gordon McCauley, Patrick Bevin and Aaron Strong

“It was a good result and my first win in Subway colours,” Latham said. “The bunch split over the climbs and we arrived at the finish with three riders and I got up for the win.”

Seven chasing riders, including McCauley and Strong, finished over a minute behind the leading three place getters.
