People in the Botany electorate have less than a week to enrol or update
their enrolment details to make voting as easy as possible in the 5 March
by-election.

“Tuesday 1 February is the cut off to ensure you get an EasyVote card in
the mail and to get onto the printed electoral roll used in polling places
and advance voting places,” says Maureen Hansen, Registrar of Electors,
Botany Electorate.

“If you’ve moved house or flat and haven’t updated your address details
with us you must re-enrol now.

“Young people, aged between 18 and 29, make up most of the not enrolled in
the electorate. We are targeting these young people and I encourage them
to get enrolled today,” says Mrs Hansen.

Enrolling is quick and easy. Enrolment forms are available from the
elections website www.elections.org.nz, by Freetexting your name and
address to 3676, from any PostShop or by calling Freephone 0800 ENROL NOW
(0800 36 76 56). People can update their details by filling in a new
enrolment form or going online to www.elections.org.nz.

“If you’ve got a friend, member of the family or someone new to the
community who might not be ready to vote in the by-election please give
them the message to enrol now,” says Mrs Hansen.

To be eligible to enrol in the Botany electorate you must:
• Be 18 years of age or over; and
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who has lived in New
Zealand continuously for 12 months at some time; and
• Have been living in the Botany electorate for one month or more.
