Active day for SUBWAY® Pro Cycling at Wellington tour

It was an active day for The Subway Pro Cycling team with Pete Latham finishing fourth and Paul Odlin picking up valuable sprint points on today’s 164 kilometre stage three of the International Trust House Cycle Classic in the Wellington region.

“The team rode really well today and were in every move of the day,” Team Manager Graeme Miller said.

“It was a really fast day and there were lots of attacks but we wanted a Subway rider in every move and we achieved that.”

Westley Gough was in an early break that stuck until well after the halfway point and Odlin picked up further valuable sprint points and is second equal in that completion.

Nathan Earle (Genesys Wealth), Adam Semple (Drapac) and James Williamson (Pure Black Racing) got away with 15 kilometres to go and SUBWAY® team was amongst the teams working hard to catch the three riders before the finish.

The large chasing bunch only fell nine seconds short of catching the leaders with Subway’s Latham winning the bunch sprint to claim fourth in a time of three hours, 35 minutes and 41 seconds.

Tomorrow’s stage is eight laps of Wallaceville 15 kilometre circuit in Upper Hutt for a total of 120 kilometres of racing.

The tour’s final stage is a cirterium on Sunday where the riders race for one hour followed by a further three laps of the inner city street circuit.

“We’re still focused and looking forward to what’s coming up over the next two days,” Miller said.
