World Athletics Head Visits New Zealand

The head of World Athletics, Lamine Diack (President of the IAAF) is currently visiting New Zealand.

He attended several days competition at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Christchurch and is currently in Wellington, visiting Athletics New Zealand National Office and meeting with staff, along with several Athletics New Zealand Life and Board Members. He will spend time with his long-time friend and patron of Athletics New Zealand, Arthur Eustace, before flying to Australia to attend the Oceania Athletics Association Congress commencing on Friday on the Gold Coast.

Diack, from Senegal is just the fifth IAAF President since the organisation was founded in 1912. He has held the role since 1999, taking over following the death of Primo Nebiolo. The visit is the first to New Zealand by an IAAF President.
