Bay of Plenty Regional Council is continuing to monitor Tauranga’s new Bay Hopper bus timetables, hoping to have any teething issues sorted in the next few days.

Regional Council Transport Policy Manager Garry Maloney said while most of the 12 routes had little or no problems when the timetables changed on Sunday 13 February, a couple of routes were struggling to meet times at certain periods during the day.

“We’re aware that route 55 has had a few timetable issues which our staff are currently investigating and hoping to rectify as soon as possible,” Mr Maloney said.

“We realise that people rely on the service, and we want to reassure people that we are working on this and thank passengers for their patience.”

A few issues had also been reported on Route 1.

Mr Maloney said despite this, they have had feedback from passengers saying the timetable changes had made it easier for them to take the bus.

“Overall, the changes have been a success, and we’re confident we can get all buses running to the timetable soon.”
