Amisfield Wine Company Takes Centre Stage in Hong Kong

Amisfield Wine Company’s award winning wines and exclusive Bistro food will take centre stage at the prestigious Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club next week (March 10) at a select Gala Dinner for club members. The prominent Central Otago winery will be represented by Winemaker Stephanie Lambert and Bistro Executive Chef Jason Innes who will profile both the wine and food for which the winery has an international reputation.

In addition to presenting the “Trust the Chef” Gala Dinner which will focus on South Island and Central Otago products including West Coast whitebait, Fiordland crayfish, crispy duck and New Zealand lamb, Jason Innes will be based at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club from March 7-12 as guest chef offering a diverse menu.

“I will be serving meals in the Compass Room and have about eight chefs on hand there to assist me. It is a great opportunity to present our repertoire of favourite dishes to the members of the club,” says Jason. “I have personally created the recipes myself and I want to convey to people just how exciting our New Zealand flavours are and have developed a menu featuring oysters, rabbit and pork rillette, grouper and lamb and beef presented in new and different ways.”

Amisfield Winery’s leading wines including the Pinot Noir 2006, Rocky Knoll Pinot Noir 2006 and Dry Riesling 2008, Noble Sauvignon Blanc 2008 and Pinot Gris 2008 will be matched with the food at both the Gala Dinner and with the daily menu throughout the week.

“In addition to the Hong Kong Yacht Club dinner I will be presenting trade and VIP tastings, working with our distributors throughout the week to profile our wines at all levels,” says Stephanie. “I am also taking our latest releases and look forward to the response to those from our existing and potential clients in Hong Kong.” Amisfield Wine Company General Manager Fleur Caulton says Amisfield wines have been distributed in Hong Kong for the past six years and the Royal Yacht Club opportunity is an excellent one.

“There is a large ex-pat community in Hong Kong that enjoys New World wines and we have been getting a good response to our labels over the years. This is a timely opportunity to present dishes from our unique Amisfield Bistro menu in Hong Kong as well, at the same time building the profile of not only Amisfield products, but Central Otago and New Zealand as well.”
