Hauraki Cycleway Proposal
Council briefed on the proposed Hauraki cycleway.
Consultants charged with reviewing and auditing the proposed Hauraki cycleway presented their report to the Thames-Coromandel District Council (TCDC) at its meeting this week.
Council is being asked to provide a contribution of $450,000 to assist in the development of the Thames to Paeroa leg of the cycleway as well as ongoing maintenance of approximately $150,000 per annum.
The Government is providing $4 million for the development of the project and the economic impact of the cycle-way is estimated to be $1.2 million in its first year, growing to $3.8 million by its fifth year.
Residents and ratepayers are being asked to make a submission on this proposed investment as part of the TCDC’s 2011-2012 Draft Annual Plan public consultation. Submissions can be made at www.tcdc.govt.nz/apsubmission
