PAPAKURA

Upcoming kiwi reggae stars Sons of Zion are set to play the Hawkins Theatre on Saturday 19th March. The Sons of Zion are a six piece crew hailing from various locations around Aotearoa.

Their live stage presence has captivated audiences all over New Zealand and their infectious sound is a mixture of reggae and roots groove with melodic vocals, phat dubby base lines and metal inspired guitar riffs.

Since their 2007 New Zealand Music Month debut, Sons Of Zion have continued to build momentum both here and in Australia through touring and playing at festivals such as Parachute and just recently the 2011 Raggamuffin Reggae Festival alongside internationals Mary J Blige, Jimmy Cliff and the Wailers.

In their short time on the local roots scene, Sons of Zion have already shared the stage with some of the country’s best loved roots acts including KORA, Katchafire, The Blackseeds, Cornerstone Roots, House of Shem, Three Houses Down and Aardijah.

Sons of Zion are looking forward to their Papakura gig and are currently working towards a second album to be released in late 2011.

Support comes from South Auckland’s eight piece band, Valiant BOYS
