Engineering consultancy Beca and the Australian-based Clough AMEC, a leading provider of engineering-led asset support services, has announced a strategic partnership to offer integrated engineering services in the oil and gas industry.

Beca Group CEO, Keith Reynolds, says Beca and Clough AMEC are joining forces to pursue brownfield engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services in the New Zealand oil and gas sector, in a long term relationship.

“The companies have been working together for over 25 years, co-operating on a variety of hydrocarbons, mining and environmental projects. The existing Beca AMEC joint venture operated all that time in New Zealand and Australia providing engineering services to the forestry industry, primarily pulp and paper mills.

“It was a natural step to form a second strategic partnership, Clough AMEC Beca (CAB), to specifically service the hydrocarbons industry in New Zealand. This combines the internationally renowned strengths of a leader in brownfield engineering and maintenance services with one of New Zealand’s foremost engineering resources and project management companies.

“The collaboration of these leading companies now brings together our key strengths of global reach, extensive capability, local knowledge and expertise.”

He says CAB will provide a range of services including project management, design engineering from concept through to detailed engineering, construction management, subcontractor management, construction execution, commissioning, maintenance management and execution. CAB will draw on its existing subcontractor relationships in the regions to deliver full Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) services.

Clough AMEC General Manager Simon Taylor, (formerly GM of similar operations in New Zealand for six years) says New Zealand’s hydrocarbons sector is indicating a need for further competition and management/systems capability, and the entry of CAB is very timely.

“Through the Clough AMEC Brownfield Management Suite (developed in the UK North Sea sector over 15 years of services) and the sharing of expertise and resources, we can deliver a step change in the offering to the market. We are also offering our Performance Improvement consultancy services to clients looking for business improvement initiatives in areas such as asset management, process controls systems, energy and emissions, operator competency, and organisation and development. This is an exciting time to be in New Zealand.”
