Athletics New Zealand Appoints Events Manager

Athletics New Zealand has appointed Will Stewart to the position of Events Manager in its national office.

Stewart, a Sports Marketing graduate of the University of British Columbia (UBC), was captain of the UBC Cross Country and Track & Field Teams and has experience with events, most recently the 2010 Winter Olympics. He has also worked as Coach Education Manager and Event Coordinator for the Coaches Association of BC.

Among Stewart’s responsibilities will be to provide guidance and support to local organising committees for Athletics New Zealand’s championship events and to lead the establishment of the annual calendar for national championships.

Stewart will also be supporting Athletics New Zealand’s recently appointed Events Consultant Tom Mayo of Mayo& Ltd in the planning, funding and presentation of key Athletics NZ events.

In announcing Stewart’s appointment, Sport Manager Brett Addison explains that the intention is drive a new level of experience and quality of event for our members and participants. “As we broaden our appeal to a wider market, it is imperative that we provide accessible and high quality opportunities for people to take part in our events”, says Addison.
