A trip for two to Melbourne to see the hot new show ‘Rock of Ages’ is offered to one lucky ticket holder to local show ‘…Introducing The Sheralees’.

Show sponsor World Travellers is offering the prize package which includes flights, accommodation and show tickets. Everyone who attends the locally written, produced and directed show will be eligible for the prize draw.

‘…Introducing The Sheralees’ opens for a four night season this Wednesday at Arrowtown’s Athenaeum Hall.

Written and directed by local thespian, Jo Blick, ‘…Introducing The Sheralees’ also stars Jo alongside well known Queenstown actors and musicians Margaret O’Hanlon, Rachael Simons and Kathleen Brentwood.

Ms Blick says the prize package was another reason to support the show.

“We are extremely grateful to World Travellers for its support of this show. The prize package is amazing offering a fantastic opportunity to the person who wins it.”

‘…Introducing The Sheralees’ follows the story of four Intermediate school girls from a mid-sized New Zealand provincial town whose 15 minutes of fame came when someone flicked a switch 10 minutes early during the live Telethon broadcast in 1977. Instead of Suzanne Prentice and her country performance, a rag tag assortment of tap dancing, lip synching loveable pre teens went live to the nation. In the intervening quarter century they’ve gone in very different directions and one of them has even achieved real fame. Now, The Sheralees are getting back together for one last concert.

Jo describes ‘…Introducing The Sheralees’ as a play with music and says audiences should expect a comedy about friends, enemies, pop music and life after 40.

“The music is fabulous and includes a great range of pop songs from the 60’s through to today including hits from Amy Winehouse, the Bay City Rollers, The Pretenders, Gloria Gaynor and more,” says Jo.

Tickets are on sale at World Travellers in the Clocktower building Cnr Shotover and Camp Streets Queenstown and at Lakes District Museum in Arrowtown. Tickets cost $20 for opening night and $30 for each subsequent performance. Cash sales only.
