HASTINGS

Hastings theme park, Splash Planet, has seen a record number of admissions so far this summer season.

With one weekend of the season to go, over 100 thousand people have already gone through the turnstiles.

Splash Planet Manager Peran Hutchings says “it is the first time in ten years that the park has exceeded a hundred thousand visitors and back then the season was much longer”.

“That’s already a great increase on last year, when 94,080 people went to the park. So with a full weekend to go, we expect numbers to be well up” says Mr Hutchings.

Visitor number 100 thousand was three year old Sophie Guildford of Hastings, who attended the park with her father James.

Sophie received a Splash Planet gift pack, which included MP3 players, Splash Planet caps and other fun gear.

Mr Hutchings says “it’s a fantastic result for the theme park, which offers fun and entertainment for the whole family”.

Splash Planet is open for the final time this season, this weekend, and as a reward for the record attendance, is offering club card prices to “all our Facebook fans”. All people have to do to qualify for the Club Card pricing, is go to www.facebook.com/splashplanetnz and become a fan. Then, when they visit Splash Planet this weekend, they just need to tell staff they heard about it on Facebook and they’ll receive entry at this discounted price.

“It’s our small way of saying thanks to all of our loyal fans, for such a great year” Mr Hutchings says.
