Pharmacy Guild launches user-friendly online training for members

The Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand has launched a range of interactive business training modules for members. The modules will assist community pharmacists build their professional development as business owners. These modules are available free to all Guild members and can only be accessed online at www.pgnz.org.nz/modules.

“We had many requests from members to develop business training and believe it fills a gap in the market,” says Annabel Young, Guild Chief Executive. “These modules also add further value to Guild membership and provide an additional avenue for community pharmacists to meet their continuing professional development requirements.
The four modules launched this week are on conducting effective performance reviews with staff, making smart hiring decisions, assessing the profitability of your pharmacy and ways to prevent shoplifting in your pharmacy. These modules were developed by experts in specialised fields. The HR modules were written by Michelle McCormack, a Director at Facilitators Inc, who has many years experience in organisational and team development, and performance management. The Guild’s business partner, Markhams Chartered Accountants, provided the module on assessing the profitability of your pharmacy, while Christchurch-based security guru, Steve Davis, wrote the module on improving control over shoplifting in pharmacies. Additional modules will be made available in the future.
“As the modules can be accessed online, this means they can be completed anywhere and at the user’s own pace,” says Annabel. “This means pharmacists can now spend less time attending lengthy and expensive training sessions after a long day at work.”
