Businesses and event organisers struggling to find Christchurch meeting venues are being encouraged to look to the high seas by local company Black Cat Cruises.

Black Cat's managing director, Paul Bingham, says the company's Canterbury Cat catamaran may be an ideal option for anyone planning a meeting, event or function at a venue that is now unavailable due to the quake.

"Our business has been affected by the February 22nd earthquake to the extent that we are no longer running the Lyttelton based Christchurch Wildlife Tours, but that presents an opportunity in terms of the availability of the Canterbury Cat.

"The catamaran is fully equipped with bar facilities and we can organise catering if required. It can be used from the jetty or taken out into the harbour - either way, we believe having capacity will provide a solution for event planners and business people who have been caught short, but still want their event to go ahead."

The Canterbury Cat is also available for chartered cruises with a minimum of 20 onboard, and for weddings, parties and product launches.

The company works in with the Spit Roast company for charter cruises, but is happy to work with other caterers, event planners and theme designers to make the most of the venue.
