Infrastructure and Property Committee Chair Cr Ray Stevens today said that a major leak on the Castlecliff main 300m upstream of Manuka Street has required an emergency shutdown of water supply to Castlecliff.
“This large 300mm high pressure main is a major feed to Castlecliff and industry,” Cr Stevens said.

“As a result of the shutdown, about 40 houses will be temporarily without water. The rest of Castlecliff and the industrial area will have low water pressure until the main is repaired. The repair is estimated to take up to 6-7 hours but there will be some time before the main can be livened again. The repair has commenced and will continue until complete. Once the main is back in action, residents may notice dirty water from their taps. If the water doesn’t clear after running the taps for a while, they should contact the council on 349 0001.”

Affected residents and industries are being advised and the Fire Service has been alerted.
