The Crusaders turned in the most impressive display of the Super Rugby on Saturday, scoring three tries, adding another $15,000 to the Tui cash-for try tally, completely outplaying the Bulls.

Tui, long term sponsor of rugby in the Canterbury region, issued a cash-for-try incentive to the Crusaders for the rest of their Super Rugby round robin games. Each try is worth $5,000, with all proceeds going to help revive Canterbury’s earthquake stricken rugby community.

The Crusaders reaffirmed their dominance at the top of the table with an explosive performance over the defending champions Bulls in Timaru. This, the second game of the try incentive spurred the team on to a 27 – 0 demolition of the Springbok packed Bulls team. Crossing the try line three times during the match has increased the cash-incentive total to a healthy $40,000.

An impressive feat on its own, holding the touring South Africans to no points, but the fact that the Crusaders team was ‘under-strength’, without stars Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and Sam Whitelock, was even more evidence of the strength and depth of this Cantabrian side. And perhaps the fact that the Tui cash-for-try incentive has given the team the additional motivation to play their hearts out for their earthquake ravaged region.

Tui marketing manager Jarrod Bear says he’s overwhelmed by the performance on the weekend, “I’m not sure if it’s the Tui cash-for-try incentive which we issued to the Crusaders, or what, but the team looks unstoppable. A fifth straight win for the Crusaders and the way they’re playing I don’t think anyone can stop them. This week SBW (Sonny Bill Williams), Israel Dagg and Tom Marshall all did their bit to help amass another $15,000 for Canterbury’s Rugby community by crossing the touchline.”
