Top New Zealand auctioneer picks up the hammer at Bayleys North Shore
One of the youngest real estate auctioneers in New Zealand has joined Bayleys North Shore’s residential team - encompassing the Takapuna, Mairangi Bay and Albany offices.
Daniel Coulson, 21, relocated from Christchurch at the beginning of the year, where he spent three and a half years working as a residential real estate salesperson.
Mr Coulson began working as an auctioneer last year, taking out the title of top novice in the 2010 REINZ National Real Estate Auctioneers Championships.
From a young age, Mr Coulson knew he wanted to work in real estate - following in the footsteps of both of his parents, and alongside his two brothers who also work in the industry.
Mr Coulson said as a salesperson he held a strong belief in the auction process, and previously worked with a company that held a strong auction culture which helped him gain the ability to work with both buyers and sellers to bring a deal together.
He said: “To be successful as an auctioneer, I think it comes down to having the confidence and ability to build trust and rapport with people very quickly.
“I find I relate well to people from a wide variety of backgrounds and I am able to negotiate effectively with both parties while under pressure, ultimately bringing about a result both parties are happy with.”
Mr Coulson said he was enthusiastic about the opportunities in the North Shore residential property market which he believes has a lot of potential.
He said: “The North Shore residential property market is moving well. There are some good listings out there at the moment and I am hoping for a pick up in activity in the third quarter of the year alongside the economy.”
